I attend the Natural Products Expo every year looking for new and innovative, healthy products. And this year did not disappoint. There were 3,000 exhibitors and I was one of 71,000 attendees!
So many of you have allergies or sensitives to dairy, as I do. And even though I never liked milk, and I can do without cottage cheese, I can find coconut yogurt and use ghee instead of butter, there has never been a great dairy free cheese.
I found 3 new products that may allow some of you to add real milk back into your diet, another product that is a great substitute for milk, and an awesome dairy free cheese!
Conventional milk today contains the protein A1 beta-casein, which is hard for many to digest. The a2 milk Company identifies the cows that produce only the A2 protein. For people who have digestive distress with milk, A2 milk may work better on their systems. Their slogan is “The milk that might change everything.” This is a new product and hasn’t hit store shelves yet, but check out their website, give them your email so they can alert you when and where it will be available. And tell your grocery store manager that you would like for them to carry this product.
If you have a true allergy to milk, not just a sensitivity, then you are going to love Suzie’s Quinoa milk. Smooth, creamy and delicious. This is a nice change from Rice and Almond milks. You can get it on the link below as well as on Amazon, Vitacost and Sprouts Store. Hopefully we’ll start to see this on the shelves in our grocery stores soon.

Follow Your Heart’s newest cheeses are FREE of dairy, soy, lactose and gluten. They are also certified Non GMO. Their main ingredient is coconut. Anyone who has tried other dairy free cheeses know that they can be slimy, have a weird aftertaste, and they look like a non food stuff. I’m here to tell you, this is the BEST and there is no after taste. The consistency is terrific and it melts perfectly. I sampled each flavor, and even had a sandwich made with slices. This cheese comes in shreds, blocks and slices. Check out their website for a location near you.
And if you think you may have a dairy or other food sensitivity but want to know for sure, I offer a 200 food panel food sensitivity test. If you would like more information, please call or email for more information. karenrothmsnc@icloud.com
Here I am at Jeff’s Natural’s booth. Irene and team made jalapeño infused margaritas. What a nice break in the day. Jeff’s makes jalapeños, olives, peppers, capers and peperoncinis. No preservatives, no artificial flavors or colors, no sulfites and certified Non GMO. Next time you are in the store, really read the ingredients on everyday jalapeños and olives. You wouldn’t believe all the artificial ingredients.
